January 25–30 is LARTA time!

LARTA (London Antique Rug and Textile Art Fair) is the jewel in the crown of London's best love antiques and decorative arts fair, the Decorative Fair, in Battersea. Best loved because each and every one of its hundreds of stands is in a work of art in itself. And there is good nosh too, with chocolate cake to die for.

All the old LARTA favouries are there, Aaron Nejad, exhibitiing this lovely suzani…

Tony Hazledine with this lovely 19th-century Kashmir shawl…

and the inimitable Gideon Hatch, with Obelix 2, a soul-warming new design.

Grand new entries include Milan's Alberto Levi Gallery, now approaching its 35th anniversary. Mr Levi presenting 'a selection of European and American rugs from the 20th Century Avant-Garde movements, together with a group of early European textiles, fine English and French needlepoints and Aubussons, a choice of Oriental decorative carpets as well some of the antique Turkish prayer rugs (main picture), representing the Gallery's own current online exhibition entitled Like A Prayer - A Collection of Antique Anatolian Niche Design Rugs.'

Each day this week, we will add highlights. Watch this space!
