After earning a certain notoriety for repeating nature programmes and cookery chat shows when things got too hot to handle, it was inevitable that when we wanted to find out how things were round our office in Şişli this morning Istanbul's news programmers would concentrate on the burning issue of Turkic balbals, the peace-offering steles close to Cornucopia's heart that dot the steppes of Central Asia.
